OVERVIEW: Join your peers in Baton Rouge at the LHA Conference Center on May 21, and gain valuable insight, strategies, and tools to help your organization thrive in the HR arena during these ever-changing and somewhat challenging times. Based on member feedback, the LHA Management Corporation has designed a day to support the human resource (HR) professional at all levels – emerging, mid-level, and seasoned professionals. The focus of the day will include practical and legal solutions when considering increasing your workforce with foreign practitioners; employment law updates; updates from The Joint Commission with a review of HR-related standards; tools for improving the talent pool; and updates on diversity and equity in healthcare. Finally, the symposium will cover the varying generations present in today’s workforce and how generational differences can be strengths rather than barriers or weaknesses.
PROGRAM GOALS:
Upon completion of these programs, participants will:
• Educate healthcare employees on solutions that are available to address the health professional shortage;
• Explain the employment regulations that apply to foreign doctors, nurses, and physical therapists;
• Understand employee needs as the foundation of your talent strategy;
• Identify what your leaders need to be successful in the future;
• Discuss solutions to overcome racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and other disparities in healthcare delivery;
• Recall tips for managing and mentoring a changing workforce;
• Review self-awareness and understanding of others in the workplace; and
• Identify communication styles and ways to find common ground to harness the power of a diverse workforce.
